Train. Desk. Couch. Airport. What do they all have in common? They are all places where people check emails (and LinkedIn). Even during the holiday season it seems that in one location or another that people are still checking emails. Why not reach the people WHERE THEY ARE?!

This time of year we hear a lot of:
⦁ "Hiring managers are dragging their feet"
⦁ “There is a hiring freeze until the New Year”
⦁ "I can’t reach them, they are traveling"
⦁ “This is not a good time of year for us”
⦁ “Let’s talk in 2016…” BINGO!!!!

If this is the case, then why don’t we use this “slow” period to our advantage? We should be stockpiling our pipeline for the January with conversations with both hiring managers and candidates alike.

So many individuals are willing to book an appointment as long as it is far enough in the future that it is out of sight out of mind. They don’t want anything added to their already busy plate…right now. Ask about getting on their calendar for a few weeks from now and your odds of getting a yes are highly increased.

This is easily done via email OR LinkedIn (preferably a combination of both). As I have previously mentioned, we have created a LinkedIn Business Development Methodology (specifically for Search Firms) that is second to none, and if implemented will bring exponential increases in the amount of “warm” conversations you have with hiring managers.

Set an ACTUAL goal of how many January conversations you want to have lined up and then get started!
